Local Giving

Most of the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation's giving supports the local, often rural communities where Weyerhaeuser employees live and work. Through their service on local Foundation Advisory Committees, employee volunteers are personally engaged in how the foundation's giving is directed in their communities. Examples of local support for advancing renewable natural resources include:

  • The Agriculture & Forestry Education Foundation leadership program, which develops transformational leaders in the Agriculture and Forestry Education Foundation who are willing to get involved and shape the future.
  • Friends of Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge is an environmental education program of the Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge in Washington state.
  • The Kenan Fellows Program at North Carolina State University Foundation, which is an innovative model to promote teacher leadership and address teacher retention. The program provides teachers with fact-based information about forestry and environmental education, along with the resources and materials they will need to teach these topics in their classrooms.
