Abalon Beech
We source lightly steamed European beech from one of the largest, most reputable European hardwood sawmills, Abalon Hardwoods GmbH. Abalon produces carefully dried (KD 8 to 10 percent) and surfaced lumber in thicknesses of 26, 32, 38, and 52 millimeters. Grading occurs after surfacing to allow for reliable detection of defects and color.
European beech is a strong, hard, durable, and readily available species with excellent machining properties. It is a close-grained wood, light in color, and accepts a wide variety of stains beautifully. European beech is often used as an alternative to higher-priced walnut, cherry, and mahogany.
